Here's another interesting story from a different angle.

Last October, my company took all of our staff to the Hotel de Paris in Monaco. We were, in general, given the worst rooms in the place. One of my colleagues went back to reception to ask for a better room but was told nothing was available.

The next day, he checked out and paid for his incidentals on his Centurion card. The receptionist (who was the same woman from the previous night) said: "I'm sorry about last night, Sir. If I'd known you had a Centurion card I would have moved you." (ie, if I'd known how rich you were, I would have moved you.)

Suffice it to say, my colleague was not impressed. The Hotel de Paris eventually repaid us a substantial sum to cover the poor rooms and other problems.
