I have seen these at a few Holiday Inn's, generally in smaller towns. I'm wondering if you see these more when you are staying at a more locally-owned, or possibly owner-occupied hotel who might believe that the price sheet might "scare" people away from stealing some of the items.

I remember one Holiday Inn in the midwest that required a $5 cash deposit for the remote control for the TV. Glad that was a one night stay!
