Food voucher in lieu of lounge access for 17 year-old

Master Scrutton Street has gone off volunteering in Central America. He is 17, and BA silver. He obviously couldn’t access the lounge as he was travelling alone, but at check-in he was given a £30 voucher to spend at a food shop of his choice after security.

I didn’t know BA did this, but it was a really useful benefit and probably worked out better for him as he stocked up on food for the 11-hour flight in Economy.

Thought this might be useful for someone.

Incidentally he said the flight to San Jose was not even half full. Hope the route is doing OK, as Costa Rica is beautiful.
