If it looks likely before you leave London that you'll miss your connection and there's no reasonable alternative routing through MOW then you probably won't even be allowed to depart.
In that case BA should reroute you from London, but if I were you I'd be on my guard and make sure they don't just pack you off to MOW and leave you to the mercy of their representatives at DME.
