I know it's close to the water bus (which is pretty special and you can see the palace, and the Royal library and archive from the water. It gets pretty close to the very little mermaid too.

About food - being with a Danes for over 20 years and the only things that I can think of is really Danish is meatball, duck (Morton's aften and Christmas), herring during parties, and whatever food that serves with those dishes. However one thing is pretty unique in Denmark is the open sandwich made with Danish rye bread. You can go to Ida Davidsen to try the very luxury version of it (thin bread with tons of toppings). If you want the local version, pop into a supermarket and buy a loaf of dark bread and pick up a box of spread on "salad" or salami and make your own open sandwich. A lot of Danes bring their own lunch (not too much in big corporations in Greater Copenhagen area - my in laws brought their own lunch daily before they retire and it's my husband brought it to school when he was a student), and I think Danish school kids bring their own (I don't have kids in Danish schools so I have no idea if it's still the case).
Hotels at or very close to Kgs Nytorv would usually be 300 USD and upwards.
