Also, in many situations truth is overrated, lie and most passengers shut up and the one's that don't probably get offloaded and the FA can get on with their job. Arguing about the technicality about FAA rules (which most passengers will not know about), the FA can pull up the passenger being threatening/abusive card and get them offloaded.

What's left is for the passenger to write a 2 page letter to the airline after the event explaining their position, with most not bothering to read it, just making sure it doesn't get picked up by social media "influencers" If it does, throw some miles the passengers way and close the incident.
Did you post in the wrong thread, James? OP asked a pretty innocuous question to try and learn something, and you're down a rabbit hole about bloggers and offloading argumentative passengers, neither of which was part of the thread.

@OP - I had heard "can't reopen" before too, and only learned that it's an operational thing after a recent NRT-LAX flight. If you care to know, I was in 2A and the jet bridge had just retracted, then there was a commotion in the galley (some trash or something hadn't been unloaded as best I could tell), and the jet bridge came back. Captain stepped out of the cockpit, they opened door 1L, passed a bag, closed it, and we were back off.
