With so many UA/AA/DL lounges overcrowded, threadbare garbage pits, Southwest customers aren't missing much in the lounge department. As for the employee "shtick," I will take a cheery Southwest person doing a little shtick over an apathetic, vindictive or quasi-rational legacy airline person every day and twice on Sunday.
I agree with the above - Southwest was my friend when traveling frequently for work. Last minute bookings but still no worry that I'd ever be stuck in a middle seat. Great cancellation policy. Easy re-booking.

Now that I do more leisure travel and can plan far ahead, I don't use WN as much because I enjoy some of the other perks offered by AA.

But, always keep WN in your arsenal.
