Delta's CVG-CDG is profitable not because of passengers but because of cargo- GE regularly fills the hold with time-sensitive Airbus parts headed to French factories and repair shops. There's a legit question on whether a second O&D transatlantic route (American's presence there is largely to other hubs with transatlantic options + Washington National) could work with just the passengers and not the caro contracts.

BWI, SAN, and AUS are the other three BA may consider axing for the proximity of bigger hubs. MSP is the only one I think they may consider, but with almost no presence of their partners in this hub, BA may struggle to fill their planes (from what I know DL10 loads are pretty light on MSP-LHR route).
AUS- baby tech hub, just far enough away from Dallas (3+ hours) or Houston (2.5 hours) that the drive becomes significantly annoying and an equally annoying up-down connecting flight to either of those cities.
SAN- large (3.3 million+) metro area 3 hours from LAX by car and enough people voting with their wallets to avoid an LAX connection that it makes sense.
BWI- lots of dislike for the layout and ground transportation process at IAD leaves many people willing to use it as a DC area international airport. Will lose some of that advantage if/when the Metro Silver line properly connects with IAD.
