There's a reason SJC also has directs to Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai. ANA chooses to fly to SJC even though SFO is a *A hub. I'm not sure about long term pricing trends between SFO and SJC (or which fares you are looking at) but I know that BA has cut capacity to SFO - some days they don't fly the A380 / 747 combo and instead choose to fly just a 747 / 777. This may have helped drive the difference.
Whoa, I didn't exepect people get so passionate about SJC (or is it because it is 5 pm on the East Coast and BWI fans have already hit pubs?

As I said - I don't really have strong opinion about SJC, it could be a gold mine for BA. But. Shaghai, you mentioned, ends on September 15, PEK and FRA are only operated 3 days a week. So LHR and NRT are the only daily intercontinental routes, methinks there must be a reason. Although, I am totally open to be wrong.
