There are two 'halves' to this hotel one of which I believe is newer or more recently refurbished than the other. The better side, in my experience, is that directly accessible from the main lobby lifts - access to the other part requires transferring across at first floor level. Neither side is great and it may be that you were actually in the better part.

I agree, the lounge isn't so bad although it seems to take them an age to open a new bottle of wine whenever necessary - I more than half believe that they don't have a corkscrew up there and that they disappear with the bottle down to the bar on the ground floor!

Oh, and I think that the welcome drink vouchers won't even get you a glass of wine, my recollection isn't that it's local beer or a non-alcoholic selection.
