I just noticed that I have the same flight number on my outbound flight as my inbound flight 6 days later (SFO-MIA AA383 & MIA-SFO AA383). Don't think I've every noticed this before and find it "odd" for this to occur. And sure enough I look at a random day for this flight and see that on the same day both flight numbers are put into use.. Maybe this is a sign of a lotto number to play in CA and FL... LOL
Any reason why this is perhaps "allowed" or desired? Just curious.
AA has so many flights that they don't have enough numbers with their current flight number groupings (LAA, LUS, individual regionals) that they have some flights numbered the same as out and back flights. It's very common across the system.
