I would suggest to always keep the current phone number and e-mail address in your passport while you are inside the US -- no need to provide your actual address. However, when I travel abroad, I usually write my temporary stay address in Personal Data section as well. There are still some good people in this world who might go an extra mile to return the passport to its righteous owner. Once I lost my wallet that had cash, credit cards and a driver's license at Disney World in France, and someone returned it fully intact to Lost and Found.
