no, I don’t think that that is the case at all. The TA is correctly identifying that what were SPG properties are now Marriott properties. They are then correctly applying my MR number instead of my old SPG number. It seems to me that if it’s not showing up, it’s because Marriott is not allowing a legacy MR number to be applied (and interestingly enough, the reservation is being held on the old SPG site, not on Marriott.com).
