The hotel has a beautiful location with terrific views of Boston from harbor view rooms. We didn't find public transportation to be a problem. The hotel has a shuttle to the Airport Station of the MBTA. Shuttle ran very frequently. Subway into downtown Boston runs every couple of minutes. On the way back you don't even have to wait at the subway stop for the hotel shuttle (although it always seemed to come within a few minutes). The free MBTA shuttle runs every 6 minutes and drops you off next to the hotel.
I watched the Hyatt Regency Boston over the years make some improvements however the last stay was my last until some major changes might occur in food and beverage and room standard
The breakfast wasn't meeting normal Hyatt standards and the service was also very disappointing. Not enough attention to detail
Marriott Starwood is going to slaughter them if they don't take appropriate action
I paid for my breakfast at the Ritz Carlton down the block every morning of my stay which was outstanding.in quality and presentation
My stay was not awful just blah with no compelling reason to return

Before it became a Hyatt years ago I stayed there when it was previously the Swissotel and the breakfast was solid in those days
The hotel has always had air circulation problems with laundry/ dryers fumes permeating the hallways and occasionally slow elevators
and oddly that hasn't changed.
Room renovations through the years have never been all that good but certainly reasonable
The problem is that the rates they charge you can frequently stay at the Intercontinental and other area properties which are solid more superior
luxury properties that offer excellent service.
Now that I hold lifetime status I only stay where the property truly meets its mark. Most Hyatt full service do for me

I prefer the Hyatt Regency Cambridge which historically has been better with elite upgrades
It too has also having breakfast challenges in recent years but told they were seriously addressing it on last last visit Dec 2017
They said that were making every effort to bring in the best people to make the improvements.
They were also renovating the lobby at the time with temporary check in area
I was impressed by their conversation and apparent commitment at the time
Ate breakfast there just fine each morning and enjoyed my dining even with some flaws compared to years past.
But everyone was committed to pleasing their guests

Peter a legendary Hyatt server is still serving in the hotel restaurant .I remember him frmm the opening in the late 70s!
Still proudly serving kindly and humbly
I give a nod to the Cambridge property and the Hyatt @ Logan airport both exceeding the Hyatt R Boston IMHO
Would never say don't stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston but not a preferred choice.
They should spy on Hyatt Regency LAX or Hyatt Regency OC and see what a great Regency Breakfast is like in or out of the club!
