I have an AA itinerary, as follows:
Canada to USA -- American Eagle metal with AA flight number, Booking Code: I
USA to NRT -- American metal with AA flight number, Booking Code: I
NRT to Asia -- JAL metal with AA flight number, Booking Code: I
Asia to NRT -- JAL metal with JAL flight number, Booking Code: X
NRT to USA -- JAL metal with AA flight number, Booking Code: I
I have no status on AA or Alaska, and since this is a low fare (around 2K USD), it seems that crediting to Alaska will earn more miles (150% of flown miles) vs AA (5 miles per dollar).
When I called AA to change my FF number to Alaska, the agent refused, because he said Alaska no longer earns miles on AA flights. I was unable to convince the agent that AA international legs do earn miles on Alaska, but I did get him to remove my AA FF number from the record. I can now go in and add my Alaska FF number myself.
I just want to confirm that I will earn Alaska miles on all of these flights, I'm assuming at a 150% of mileage rate for all the legs (except possibly the JAL leg with a JAL flight #?).
