SFO’s Former Air Traffic Control Tower Building Gets a New Life

SFO’s skyline continues to evolve, offering new opportunities to connect passengers with the excitement of the airfield. With a central location right above Terminal 2, the former airport traffic control tower1 along with two floors of the base structure below it were recently removed to improve seismic safety.

Taking advantage of this prime location, in its place, SFO is building back two new levels of space totaling over 50,000 square feet with outstanding views of the airfield. The project will include airline lounge and office space, as well as an additional gate at Terminal 2.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
