I'm not sure what the SSR tag is, but:
  • It was before OLCI but after T-25
  • I was on the phone with an agent who removed both the RPU and the CPU requests

This is not to absolve UA IT, but it's not as simple as "happening to those who opt out".
This has not been my experience. I was booked on a one-way, and there is no way to decline an instrument-sponsored upgrade.
