Some one of you might have followed a bit of my story in another thread... But it's now getting even more ridiculous, to a point where they blatantly lied to me.
- I paid £105 for a return, LHR->DUS->LHR
- DUS->LHR gets cancelled, I get rebooked but the new flight is too early for me
- I book a one-way DUS->LHR on another carrier and call BA for a refund
- Agent says he'll need to get someone to calculate the refund, he'll call me back once that's done
At that point, the one-way LHR->DUS flight is bookable for £48.- Agent calls back (wow!) and tells me I'll get half the price I paid back
- I tell him the one-way is actually cheaper than half the £105, so should be getting at least £57
- Agent assures me I won't be worse off than if I just rebooked
- Agent tells me I'll get the refund and a new ticket in the next couple of days
Fast-forward 3 weeks. The one-way LHR->DUS is now bookable for £58.- I finally get a booking change email, telling me the "new total price" is £41
That would mean a refund of £64. I'm slightly surprised as that's a bit more than I expected, but thenNow that really doesn't seem right. Surely someone just typed in the wrong number by accident?- I call BA, yet again
- Agent tells me he'll investigate as that's clearly a mistake
- Agent puts me on hold for 10+ minutes
- Agent comes back to tell me the £41 refund was in fact correct
- Agent gives me a long story about why one-way flights are always more expensive, how I shouldn't assume they're half a return flight, etc.
- I point out that I obviously know all this, that I obviously pointed all of that out myself, and that the one-way even right now is still cheaper (£57) than the new price they gave me (£64)
- I tell him I'm fully expecting the remaining money to be refunded
- Agent tells me he'll call me back in a few days
So far, I've spent at least two hours on the phone just for this. Is this what their customer service has turned into? At least one of the agents clearly misled me on purpose. I could have easily cancelled the full thing and re-booked the one-way myself.
I fly at least 30 returns on this route with them every year, and guess what, the same cancellation has happened again yesterday. I don't even want to think about having to go through all of this again.
Do BA record all their calls? Can I expect someone to listen to that recording to hear the agent clearly stating that I will be no worse off? Will I ever see my money back?
