Very frustrated this morning as the security at Gatwick took my multimeter from me. I had specifically separated it from my other hand baggage along with some other non offensive RJ45 termination tools.

The security supervisor informed me they had been banned by the CAA for “ages” as they can be used to trigger a bomb who lost inside the cabin.

I was astonished and very disappointed. I have since checked the guidance from the CAA and it makes no mention of such rules.

Is is there any form of compensation that can be claimed against Gatwick for this kind of thing?
