As you are on separate tickets, if you miss the connection, there's no obligation on Jet Blue or Norwegian to put you on a later flight and they almost certainly won't. Your Norwegian ticket will be cancelled and there will be no refund. Likewise, the return portion will also be cancelled, so you will be looking at buying a new ticket, which will be very expensive on a walk up basis. The chances of a very expensive loss on this bet are high - but only you can make the assessment as to whether it's worth it.

Most people on FT would allow at least three hours for such a connection without bags. Some would insist on an overnight (although if the disruption in BOS is so severe as to hose all flights, the Norwegian flight will likely also be delayed).
Agree with everything you say. As to your last paragraph, I wouldn't try any iteration of this itinerary, except possibly with an overnight.
