I've been flying AC's 788/789s for 4 years now so I am used to features in the cabin etc. ANA's seating and cabin config obviously quite different.
I found the seat/pod to be very comfortable once seated, but because of the design of the full table as part of the pod, it was more sideways turn to get out of it. lol
Great mattress pad and slept really well. I'll discuss food and service in another more relevant thread.
Unlike AC, ANA chose no air nozzles above the seats and while comfortable for most of the flight, I found it was a bit warm.
Of the 2 lights on the ceiling panel, only the one closest to me worked. I asked the purser and she left and came back and said "the design of the aircraft is for 2 seats and this cabin only has 1 seat where you are sitting, so only one light is available to turn on". She then showed me the light on the side table.
Ok, well, weird. On AC, in the J pods, the ceiling lighting is exactly the same, in the exact same locations and both work. Perhaps NH is saving some money this way but still.
Took photo of 1A on deplaning because I had already messed up my tidy seat etc with all my stuff so it wouldn't photograph well, lol
This is SUPER weird to me, but it could be the difference between the 788's and the 789's. I specifically switched to flying to NRT from SJC instead of SFO, because they only flew B77W's from SFO, which had no air nozzles and the planes were WAY too warm for my tastes (and the 787 is a smoother ride anyway, I have tons of flight anxiety)- the 788's to/from SJC had individual air nozzles over the business staggered pods...
