Advanced warning of lost bags.
I’ve just had the pleasure of BA losing my bags again (it’s an annual tradition), except this time, suspecting that there might be an issue with a tight connection, I asked on board if there was any way of confirming the bags had been loaded and was simply told, “I’m sure it will be fine.”
An hour at the conveyor belt waiting for the last bag to be delivered and I decide to call BA and see if maybe someone can tell me if I should keep waiting but I’m told this is an issue that can only be resolved by ground staff.
After 30 minutes of waiting in line to report a lost bag, I’m greeted with: “Ah, Expataus, we’ve been expecting you.”
I’m surprised that there was no notification on board or even an email, SMS, or some way of telling me that they’d known for the better part of 6 hours that my bags weren’t going to greet me when I landed and saving me 90 frustrating minutes on arrival.
Is this just a BA inefficiency? Was the crew actually able to see the status of the bags?
