My apologies if these questions have been asked before, but I'm still reading through the 110 pages of this thread and haven't found the answers yet.
I'd like to waitlist X>I for SFO-AKL on Friday 11/2 for my wife and myself. Since this will be our honeymoon trip, I'm trying to figure out our best options to make sure we stay together but still get front seating.
I assume having separate bookings for each passenger will maximize individual odds of getting cleared, but I assume it's also possible for only one person to get cleared for the flight. We don't want to get separated but I'm not sure if waitlisting two pax on a single booking would greatly reduce our chances of clearing the waitlist. If we were traveling in a group of 4-6 pax, I definitely see how it makes a big difference to create separate bookings. But for just 2 people, will it make much of a difference with the waitlist?
Even if we do book together, it sounds like I can still call in and clear one person first if I see I1 and hope for another to clear later. How successful is that strategy for 2 people on this SFO-AKL flight on Friday in November?
