I do believe that to be the case if what Mr. Marriott's office said is true - and still anything can change since I got two different answers from Mr. Marriott's office, the one I posted being from the more definitive authority there, but as I wrote, they were still figuring it out - you would end up paying more points to upgrade it. This is why it is best, if you can, to hammer out now what you want to do with it and then attach it.
