Thanks for all of the responses. The problem that I am having is that we wish to hike in the Pyrenees right there near the border, and I am having trouble finding a car rental anywhere near the border. It sounds like what we have to do is drop the car further from the border, take a train to the border and get off there, stay a night or two, then take a train further into Spain and rent a car there. It sounds as if we would not be able to drop a car very close to the border on the French side and pick one up very close to the border on the Spanish/Catalan side. Is this true? Or am I missing something? We prefer to do the latter if it can be done.
