The co-mingling of zones 1 and 2 has been a common complaint amongst Platinums ever since HA introduced zone boarding years ago. It was messy and hit or miss amongst the gate agents on boarding zone 1 first and then zone 2 or boarding zones 1 and 2 at the same time. I for one welcome the revised lanes.
I have exactly the opposite reaction. I thought that splitting gold and plat into two groups was silly and inefficient when they did it and I appreciate GAs who run the announcements together and just try to get the plane loaded. I can’t remember ever having an issue with bags or anything else from where in the elite group I boarded an inter island flight. I do usually pass on upgrades when only row 1 is available if I have a roller bag, but that’s because there just isn’t enough overhead space in F whenever you board.
