Revised Boarding Lanes
I was transiting HNL today from SAN on my return to LIH and noticed that HA added a third boarding lane to all their interisland gates ('A' gates) at HNL. The leftmost lane is zone 1 (first class and Pualani Platinum). The middle lane is zone 2 (Pualani Gold, Premier Club, Preferred Seats). The right lane is zones 3, 4 and 5 (general boarding). Not sure on the neighbor island stations. I forgot to check on my arrival at LIH. But on my trip out to SAN this past Monday the 6th the revised lanes were not available at LIH or OGG.
Regardless, I can honestly say that it is about freaking time. The co-mingling of zones 1 and 2 has been a common complaint amongst Platinums ever since HA introduced zone boarding years ago. It was messy and hit or miss amongst the gate agents on boarding zone 1 first and then zone 2 or boarding zones 1 and 2 at the same time. I for one welcome the revised lanes.
