Banks often put together mailing lists as a separate "sweep", rather than looking for the emails (or snail mail addresses) in real time, and thus communication from banks about stuff like that often comes for recently-closed cards. I recently got a snail mail about how Starpoints are changing to points on "my" SPG Business card a couple months after i closed it.
