Was the intercontinental flight leaving from EWR? If not, they were right to deny access. Also, IIRC there are some destinations in South America that don’t qualify.

Also, all UA flights to Deep South America are classified as Polaris. It may not have the new seat. But Polaris is the name for intercontinental business class.
