I have received 2 different Citi Aadvantage promotional mailing invitations. Each one has a different invitation number and a different application deadline.

What will happen if I apply for both of them?

I recall that several years ago I applied for two of the same credit cards at the same (I think it was for either United or American miles) and I was approved for both. I don't know if that type of thing is still possible.
