That statement is extremely questionable. It's fairly common for large enterprises to create many differentiated products in order to cater to different consumers' tastes. This is being done at the level of cheap consumer products (Mars Inc. produces Milky Way, M&M's, Snickers...) up to the level of luxury products (LVMH produces Moet, Veuve Cliquot, Krug, Dom...)
Accor can have a bunch of luxury hotel brands and still exploit economies of scale and scope.
Totally agree ... and so does the Accor CEO, Sebastian Bazin.
He doesn't feel that Accor has too many brands. In fact, he definitely thinks there's room to add more:
