To add...There are several good aurora forecasting apps that will give you the KP index and cloud cover for upcoming hours and days for a given location. My Aurora and Aurora Alerts are both helpful. It's not real comfortable to be out in cold temps with your neck bent in half so these really help narrow when to be out.
