I guess that GGL does this. As a BA GGL member you are given two "jokers" per membership year that allow you to upgrade to the next available cabin for yourself and up to four others on the same booking. It is treated as an Avios upgrade or redemption (so you need to pay the Avios). The Joker opens up reward or upgrade seats where there are none publically available.. subject to the seats being available of course. A particularly good benefit for family travel.
