That happens when the originally schedule aircraft become unavailable, for some reason, and the best replacement they have is a later arrival.
In the app you only see the last thing that happened to cause the delay, i.e. "late inbound aircraft". You don't see the what happened before that which necessitated the swap to the late inbound aircraft.
