UA runs "reverse red-eye" flights from IAD-SFO/LAX. As someone noted above, they run them from ORD at times. A couple years back they had a EWR-SFO departing at like 11:00 PM and arriving at SFO 2:00 AM or so. Not the worst flight tbh. But overall, I think these only work on limited routes. I'm a fan of the IAD 10 PM bank. Allows me to depart SYR at 7:30 PM after a full day of work with plenty of time to have dinner at home before leaving.
