For all the time I flew long haul I have seen babies in almost all the flights (can't remember not seeing at least one really). It's not fun to sit with a screaming baby for 12 hours.
My experience for the past 5 years is different. They used to block 2 seats for infants in each column of a bulkhead row and the others were for free. So free bulkhead for A330 was D & G and for 777 was B, E & J. I was able regularly to get a bulkhead seat regardless of status.
When they changed the rules, I had already an assigned bulkhead seat but they moved me without telling anything to a middle seat and then at the lounge upgraded me to J
Regularly getting a free bulkhead seat was a real perk and one of the main reasons for flying TK. I’m going to miss it immensely.
