This is good advice especially when it cones to American airports where you have to manually claim and recheck your luggage after clearing Immigration. A delay at Immigration (almost guaranteed) will result in very little time to recheck the bag, and thus the risk of it missing the flight is high. You can run but baggage handlers will not.
