You're being deliberately obtuse here. Obviously if you have an unrestricted ticket you can change it anytime, even for the last available seat.
The OP is talking about same-day standby. In coach one definitely does
not have to have a full (unrestricted) Y fare to do same-day standby (even non-elites can do it for $75!). Why should you have to have a full (unrestricted) F fare to do same-day standby in first class?
