FWIW, I used a different path to get to seat assignments on the new web site. The first time I tried without logging in as a member, an error message popped up advising that to view an award booking (which mine was ... booked with LifeMiles) I needed to log in. So, I tried again:

• Log-in
• BOOK >> Find My Trip >> Booking Details
• "Enter booking information for detailed search" >> No-login reservation inquiry
• Scroll down Booking Details to Addtional Services >> Seat assignment/Check-in >> Confirm/Change
• and from there a few more clicks to select/change from the displayed seat map(s)

Some times I got an "error" pop-up after submitting the "No-login reservation inquiry" data, but clicking to dismiss the error message led to the Booking Details.

Not sure, but I suspect you can view a non-award OZ booking without logging in.
