Just checked out of a wonderful stay here. The property might be one of my new go-tos in Amsterdam. Like the OP mentioned, it has the vibe of if W were launched today, and didn't have that "trying too hard" vibe. It's unapologetically hip. You're served cava at check-in, and told that there's a record player in your room with a few classic albums, and a whole record collection for you in the lobby to take up to you room.
As a Platinum, I was upgraded to a river view room. No breakfast is included since it's a Design Hotel. The room was absolutely tiny, but I was amazed by how much they had done with the room. The decor and furniture was wonderful, every inch of the room was well thought out. This is by far the best room this size I've ever stayed in. All your standard amenities were available.
There's a quite lively bar and restaurant downstairs, with games (e.g. pinball, arcade games, etc.), indoor and outdoor seating. Didn't try the food, but the drinks were great. The design of this hotel is just insane, even down to the elevators (one is a karaoke room, the other some kind of club dancefloor). There's a nightclub on the property that's open until 7am on weekend nights, so you don't have to go far if this is what you're into (I didn't check it out).
The location is super convenient, you're essentially just across a 3min ferry from the main station. The ferry is free and runs 24h/day every 5min max.
Service was great. I was here for a quick one night stay, and only had two interactions with the staff. First, check-in, where we were greeted with two glasses of bubbly, a friendly host who took time to make conversation, recommended restaurants, explained everything about the hotel and the room, and personally walked us to the room herself and showed us the features. This is higher-touch service than most St. Regis / Luxury Collection properties I've stayed at.
