AAdvantage Award Routes Involving Multiple Partner Airlines

I have booked several AAdvantage awards in the past but they have always been simple one-ways or round trips involving just one airline...or, when they involved two carriers, they were still simple (e.g. MIA-LHR outbound on BA and return on AA).

If booking something like a Chicago to Fortaleza one way that would involve something like ORD-DFW-GRU-FOR (the first 3 of 4 segments on AA, the last on LATAM), would this be considered one award or two (if it did not involve a stopover)? Another example would be an award ticket from Miami to Murmansk that without a stopover that would involve a MIA-JFK-HEL-DME-MMK routing on various One World carriers (say, American, Finnair, and S7). Is that one single award?

It is a shame that so few One World carriers share inventory on aa.com because these awards would be easy to investigate if they did.
