Just checked into the hotel.

As a diamond member, we were upgraded to a Queen guest room from a King guest room. Yes, you're reading this right.

The front desk said that it was an upgrade because the room is located on the 21st floor, which is an executive floor. However, my Hilton app said that my rate now was for a Queen guest room (I paid for a King guest room...). So I went back to the front office to hear some explanation.

The front desk kept saying that they did not know why the app said that the room was a Queen guest room. They had King guest rooms available on the fifth or the seventh floor. So if I wanted, I could go there. Then I would lose the view.

Then, I showed that there were King executive rooms, twin executive rooms, and suites were available on the app. Then I had to wait for the manager. The front desk also said that the app would overbook the rooms.

I used 160000 points for two nights. There are many other guests who purchased the rooms. My impression was that the hotel gives priorities to the guests who pay for the rooms rather than points.

After some time, the front desk told me that a guest is moving from a King executive room to a suite. So I could go into this King executive room. After 3 hours of waiting, the room was finally ready.

The view over the city is great. After having stayed at the Intercontinental Le Grand in Paris, Trianon Palace in Versailles, and Park Hyatt at Vendome Paris with their impeccable service for the past week, maybe I expected too much from the London Hilton at Park Lane. I especially had a very nice experience at the Park Hyatt at Vendome Paris and I am just a basic member at Hyatt.

I don't see a lot of differences at this Hilton compared to the many Doubletree hotels in the US except for the view of course.
