Ah, that makes sense. I live in DFW, which is a OneWorld fortress hub, so I am used to those rules and this was different. Good to know, but it is rare I fly anything other than OW. (I have status on LH, and AA but not UA)
I can understand your pain. I went from the highest status on USAirways to having to start at the bottom on BA when I moved to the UK, then having to learn everything United when I moved back to the US to a city that did not have AA. At least United allowed me to do a status match/challenge but they still cheated me on the level for it.
