Oh yeah, because the American traveling public pays attention to manual safety briefings.
I know some can't stand this video, especially listening to it for years, but people (especially first time travelers and kids) actually watched it, kind of like Delta's "funny" safety videos. Based on the flights I have taken with a manual safety briefing less than half the plane pays attention, they are busy looking out the windows, reading the paper, or on their iPad.
Agree, the catchier Air NZ and Virgin Aus videos also get a "better than average" level of attention in the cabin from my casual observations.
