I asked this and was told very specifically that they are being forced into this by Marriott and they would like to offer more. When I pointed out plenty of other Marriott's offer more told that will be changing and will be all of Europe that it applies to!

In all seriousness I don't see how we can book European Marriott properties if they don't offer a proper breakfast and I'm speaking as someone who makes reservations for a company, staff won't put up with it. Marriott are taking for granted that we put business their way at prices which are already high enough to include a full breakfast and we can claim it back through tax. No proper breakfast no Marriott bookings, it's as simple as that.
