Why would you refuse to remove your shoes? I've frequently seen other people asked to do that, and I've done it myself.
if she felt it was a violation, she has the right to refuse. Frankly, I've been recently sexually assaulted also in O'hare airport, and I refused nothing. In fact I offered more - to empty pockets, take off my shoes (I too think that's a good place to start except that probably a real terrorist has figured out that's not a smart place to hide anything anymore-they read too). But she didn't want that - she wanted my breasts. And so my right breast was fondled with her hand starting from under my arm all the way to my nipple. Then she wanded my underwire bra and stood there and literally said "there's something there...hmmmm". At that point I lost it and flashed her and the guy behind the table, who was far more understanding. She screamed "she's exposing herself! She's exposing herself! Security Guard!" HE came over, and said "M'am you don't have to do that." I replied apparentlly I do. She (a WOMAN) can't figure out what is under there." And, after I pulled my tshirt down, she wanded it again - what's the I-Q there? About $8 worth. Then she wanded my pockets after I'd offered to empty them. They'd passed through the main screening, but she felt me all over with the wand, including the pockets, so the credit card strips alerted her wand. She again was 'stumped'. I offered again to empty them. She refused to let me. Wanded me again. Finally as time was slipping away with my flight, I just ignored her and pulled everything out, and it was credit cards. I know how to dress for the airport screenings, and how to act as safe as I can, but the rules and the foolish keep changing, and you can't keep up. and let's remember, it's america. If the woman's shoes didn't go off, she had a right to protest. According to our security chief here in houston, she should have been fired on the spot for the fondling, and he showed me the correct procedure for the breastbone exam. Hands out and down starting together at the breast bone and only outlining the underside of a woman's breasts. All this aside, when you present resistance, does that really nominate you for suspician for anyone other than the very simple minded, or someone looking for something to abuse, or brutilize - just like rapists that use their genitals? Be aware when you go through O'Hare; I'm pretty sure they're part of that program proposed and begun in January to tag people who look aggrevated, tired, angry, harrassed; gee when did that become a federal crime? Or even something to worry about? they ought to see me with my toddler when he's spread peanut butter on the couch. Think a minute before you harrass someone who's been hurt. BUT it is america, and YOU SHOULD have your opinion, however "tow the line", and "never question authority like" it may be. I'd fight for you to have your opinion. I'd hope you'd be an American and fight for mine and HERS. @:-)
