Category downgrade - do I have any recourse?

My family of two adults and one child is flying HND > LAX > PHX next year. We booked Delta Comfort seats for a price around $1k a seat. This was significantly lower than any other comparable intineraries which were running in the $3-4k range per seat. There was a lot of availability in that category at that time, as we had a range of seats to choose from.

Today we got an email saying we were bumped down to main cabin for the long haul leg. Obviously we’re not happy as we feel this was a bait and switch. Current Delta Comfort seats for the same flight are now running around $1700 per seat and they’re obviously still available. Economy seats are around $800.

if we had known this, we would have shopped economy seats and gotten a better deal than $1k a seat. I also would not have picked Delta if I had had a choice.

The flight is about 10 months away, and I know sometimes this happens due to change in aircraft, but given they are still selling DC seats online and the flight isn’t full, I don’t understand why we were moved. Do we have any recourse to either cancel the flight or at least get a refund for the difference in category fare? My guess is no but thought I’d ask more experienced flyers and DL experts first. Is there a chance this is temporary and we could get readjusted back before the flight?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
