It is the combination of Quality of the room, Services and other Amenities, together with the price point, that really matter. At least that is to me. I could not care whether it is a Ren or a SH, but I do care what my actual experience would be.
Most brands have some degree of standards, and thus you generally know what you will expect. 99% of the time Westin >>> Sheraton (esp domestically), and I know I will pay for that. Brands matter (not just in hotels).As
kacee notes, if he as a loyal Marriott consumer has trouble til this day understanding the difference between these different limited service properties, sure that is multiplied by many out there, especially those of us coming from the SPG side (where what differentiates the 12 brands is pretty clear).
