The new option last year was Nürnberg, this year it's Cologne/Köln, both from LGW and competitively priced too. Both cities benefit from easy public transport from the airport to their city centres. I've put a report about Cologne in the thread linked by DYKWIA. Having been to both cities in recent years I think Cologne is slightly better. Previous FT stories on NRN and CGN are here:
