long story, currently have 2 ascends and an aspire due to citi reserve and amex surpass conversions.
I was planning to downgrade them both after I pick up the 3 nights (1 night @ anniversary from surpass sign-up, and 2 nights for 10k/15k spend on the Citi conversion).
However, I was instead considering if it would be worthwhile to upgrade them to Aspire, for either a partial year, a full year, or indefinitely.
If I value airline credit benefit at $225 and Hilton credit benefit at $225, that cancels out the annual fee and then I get a free weekend night. Additionally there's possibly some "doubling up" within the 1st year based on how the years all work for each of those. So that sweetens the possible gain for me to go through the hassle. Possibly to keep all the cards long term. Main downside is the hilton credits don't look easy to use and the airline credits might be more restrictive in the future (and I don't really need $750 airline as I've got several $ks in rewards points for airlines already).
Numbered questions, generally later ones depend on earlier ones being "yes":
1. Does amex generally let you upgrade/product change and end up with more than one of the exact same card? Or is there an unstated restriction here?
2. If anyone who has more than one Aspire -- No problems expected with the credits working on each card individually and the weekend nights (possibly crediting to the same HH number, although I have 2 currently between the 3 cards)?
3. It looks like with upgrade/downgrade the anniversary date stays the original date. But the terms for aspire makes reference for "one time" you also get a weekend night when you upgrade. It says only one upgrade total, but I dunno if this is per card or per cardholder -- Presumably this once per upgrade is to prevent someone from upgrade/downgrading multiple times to grab extra weekend nights. Am I interpreting this terms correctly? I am interpreting this to mean you get one following the initial upgrade to Aspire and then future nights are received based on the account opening date's anniversary.
"You are only eligible to receive the Annual Free Weekend Night Reward once per year of Card membership, and you are only able to receive this benefit with an upgrade to the Hilton Honors Aspire Card one time."
4. Any unforeseen problems likely with separate balances for the credits for more than one card?
